Software roles

• Navigate using the Workspace interface

• Annotate and reply to annotations on artwork using the Markup Tools

• Extract information from the artwork using the Rulers and Info Tools

• Compare changes between different file revisions

• View annotations made on earlier revisions and ensure that requested changes have been made

Summary

Briefing

Problem: The product team only use e-mails to approve complex projects

The packaging coordination team needs evidence from research to determine key points of software development for the areas: Regulatory Affairs, Engeneering, Scientific affairs, Designers, Supppliers and R&D.

Goals

Understand the workflow of our personas when they undertake a packaging project in J&J. Discover all the tasks involved.
Understand the layers of validation and feedback that our personas require in order to know that they have completed their necessary tasks. For example, making comments to review the artworks or approving them.

Methods

Team Workshop: Online meetings with all the areas, using tools to do mindmaps, brainstorms and to register important data CSD Matrix.

Usability Test: After the desk research, meetings and the hypotheses done, we run some usability tests with real users in order to see how they use and what they feel, to improve the experience.

Research Impacts

Through collaboration, designers were able to quickly receive feedback from research and incorporate it into the prototype, which is an Agile approach.

The new software registers all changes and tracks each user's activity within the project, which is much easier than tracking all the emails as before.

My Learnings

We need to listen to all users, as they have different needs and points of view.
It's important to identify patterns to help the majority of users rather than just a small group.
The more stakeholders are engaged in every stage of the research process, the more willing they are to act on the findings.
