Goals

Gain a comprehensive understanding of the workflow followed by our personas when managing a packaging project at Johnson & Johnson. This includes identifying all tasks involved throughout the process.

Workflow Exploration: Map out the steps and responsibilities undertaken by each persona during a packaging project.
Validation and Feedback Requirements: Analyze the layers of validation and feedback necessary for personas to complete their tasks with confidence.
For example, this includes actions like providing comments to review artwork or approving finalized designs.

Methods

Team Workshop: Conduct online collaborative meetings with representatives from all key areas. Utilize tools for creating mind maps, brainstorming, and recording critical data, including the CSD Matrix (Certainties, Suppositions, and Doubts)

Usability Test: Following desk research, team meetings, and hypothesis formulation, we conducted usability tests with real users. These tests aimed to observe how users interact with the product, gather their feedback, and identify areas for improving the overall experience.

Research Impact

Collaborative Design:
By fostering collaboration, designers were able to quickly receive research feedback and seamlessly integrate it into the prototype, exemplifying an Agile development approach.

Enhanced Tracking:
The new software streamlines project management by automatically logging all changes and tracking each user's activity. This approach significantly simplifies workflows compared to the previous method of managing multiple email threads.

My Learnings

It is essential to listen to all users, as they bring diverse needs and perspectives to the table.
Identifying patterns is crucial to addressing the needs of the majority rather than focusing on a small subset of users.
Engaging stakeholders at every stage of the research process fosters greater willingness to act on the insights and findings.
